Ceremonial procedures

20 people are allowed in a wedding at the City Hall (including bridal couple and witnesses).

The bridal couple must present valid identification with a photo. Without a valid identification, the wedding cannot be performed. You also have to bring two witnesses for the ceremony, which can be best man/woman, or any two persons aged 18 or above.

We offer a ceremony in Norwegian or English, and use translation and a qualified interpreter for the bride and groom if necessary.

It is possible to put a personal touch on the wedding within the time frame we have available. It can be, for example, a poem, a piece of music or a wedding vow.

Photography and filming are allowed during the ceremony. Otherwise, we can recommend wedding photography under the portal in the park behind the City hall.

You can specify details of the ceremony in your order via Min side.

Video transmission and recording of the wedding

Fridays, we also offer video transmission and recording of the wedding. This costs NOK 1,000. You can order it via Min side or this link. You will receive a link in advance that you can share with family and friends. You will also receive a recording of the wedding on a memory stick.

Weddings other places

Unfortunately, the municipality does not have the opportunity to offer weddings at other places and times beyond what is stated on Min side. If you still wish to have the ceremony another time or place, it is possible to contact one of our Municipal Wedding Officials directly. It happens that they do private assignments if it suits them. You can find a list of Municipal Wedding Officials and contact information at the bottom of this page. You yourself must organize and make an agreement for the desired place and time of the wedding.

When you have an agreement with one of our Municipal Wedding Officials, you must contact a consultant at the mayor's office for preparation and registration of the wedding. Telephone (+47) 48 20 99 78 or email .
