Guidelines for corona vaccination

Vaccination of children and young people 5 to 18 years of age

There are different recommendations for children and young people between five and 18 years of age. You can read more about what applies for you or your child on the Norwegian Institute of Public Health website FHI website.

Consent for vaccination of children and young people under 16 years of age

Both parents with parental responsibility for children and young people under 16 years of age must give their written consent for the vaccination. The consent form must be printed out and filled in before you come to be vaccinated. The form must be submitted to the person giving the vaccination when the child is to be vaccinated. For children who need more than one dose, the consent form must be brought to each vaccination session.

Booster dose - dose 3

If you are 18 years of age or older, and a minimum of 20 weeks have passed since you received vaccination dose number 2, you can have a booster dose. You can book a booster dose (dose three) on Min side/(My Page).

The Norwegian Institute of Public Health considers that if vaccinated people (under 65 years of age with the basic vaccination) have had a covid-19 diagnosis more than three weeks after dose 2, this is seen as replacing the need for a booster dose. However, anyone who wants a booster dose, even if they have had the infection after dose 2, can still book an appointment for the booster dose. This may be necessary due to requirements for admittance to some countries or for other reasons.

If you have had covid-19 more than three weeks after the second coronavirus vaccination and would like the third dose, at least 20 weeks must have passed after dose 2, and also at least three weeks after you have been ill with the coronavirus.

For people 65 years of age and older who have been diagnosed with covid-19, the recommendation for the booster dose is to wait until three months have passed after dose 2.

People with a severely compromised immune system

People with a severely weakened immune system due to illness or the use of medication that supresses the immune system generally have poorer response to vaccination compared to healthy persons. This group also has higher risk of becoming seriously ill if they are infected by the coronavirus.
People with a severely weakened immune system are therefore offered a third vaccination dose as part of the basic vaccination, and it is given at least four weeks after the second coronavirus vaccination.
A booster dose is recommended for this group three months after the third dose. The booster dose will be dose number 4 for his group.

Dose 4 for seniors

People born in 1957 and earlier who have received three doses are recommended to take a fourth dose. If you have been diagnosed with corona after the third vaccination, it is still recommended that you take a fourth dose. The reason is that there appears to be less protection from having had an omicron infection compared to earlier variants. The fourth corona vaccination can be given at the earliest four months after the last booster dose and at least three months after a coronavirus diagnosis.

People aged 75 and over are recommended a new refresher dose

It is recommended to take two basic vaccines and three booster doses. A minimum of six months should elapse between the 4th dose and the 5th dose. At least three months should elapse between an experienced corona infection and a new corona vaccine.
